Port Blair, Jul 15: With the launch of the “Each One Plant One” campaign by the A&N Administration, the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs has kick-started the plantation drive across the UT in collaboration with the Department of Environment and forest for mass mobilization in the rural areas.
Under the campaign, all the Blocks and Gram Panchayats have launched the campaign at their level in a vibrant manner. The launch function was organized in all Blocks and Gram Panchayats in which the PRI members, Panchayat officials, and community members actively participated. The general public was also sensitized to come forward and take active participation in the campaign. The campaign is being supported by the forest department and the required number of fruit saplings and seedlings are provided by the Department to all the Blocks and GPs to take up plantation drive in a mass manner to create widespread awareness in rural areas.
The campaign is launched in the direction of Mr. JitendraNarain, IAS Chief Secretary from 15th July 2022 to 15th August 2022 in a mission mode to create more green space and generate awareness among the public and ensure nutrition security in the UT, which includes planting different types of fruit saplings in the Government buildings, public spaces and private individual area.
The campaign also aligns with the LSDG initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj i.e. Clean Green Village and will further foster to achieve the mandated target in a time-bound manner.
