Port Blair, Jul 15: Mr. Anuj Kumar Bharti (DANICS), Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur along with the Tehsildar and BDO, Diglipur held a meeting with the Members of the PRIs of Diglipur in the Hall of his building on 15th July 2022.
As per the report, after assuming the office, it was a maiden meeting held by the ACDP with PRI Members in which he first introduced himself, and then the elected members of the PRIs introduced themselves to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. And thereafter the PRI Members raised public-related issues. Mr. Bharti gave a patient hearing to each PRI Member’s issue and assured the member of looking into the matter on a positive note.
Mr. Prodip Das, Zilla Parishad Member, R.K. Gram Constituency requested the ACDP to build an Indoor Stadium so that the sports aspirants may continue to practice sports during the season. He further said that Diglipur with a huge population, lacks a park and hence a park facilitating amusement means for the people of Diglipur should be constructed in a suitable place and which was endorsed by Mr. Shyamal Debnath, Pradhan, GP R.K. Gram.
Mr. Sribash Das, Zilla Parishad Member, Madhupur Constituency raised the grievance of the people who face severe hardships in obtaining sawn timber from the lone Pvt. Sawmill at Aerial Bay. He said that it takes months after months to sawing timber. And when purchased, the thickness of the sawn timber is found less than the desired thickness and what is paid for, he further alleged. He also said that it is untenable that for even a trivial requirement of sawn timber, people have to go to Aerial Bay about 07 km away from the bazaar and bear the hefty transportation charge, and after visiting the sawmill, they don’t get the desired sawn timber, the Zilla Parishad Member further said.
Mr. Ashim Mistry, Samiti Member of Madhupur Constituency said that the farmers have to bear the huge loss due to the damage to their vegetables due to the non-availability of a Cold Storage at Diglipur; hence a Cold Storage be set up at a proper place in Diglipur to cater to the needs of the farmers.
Mrs. Suniti Halder, Keralapuram Constituency urged the ACDP to allow the pushcart stalls run by the poor vendors in the Subhashgram Bazaar area so that they may sustain their earnings source.
The Assistant Commissioner, in conclusion, emphasized the holistic approach rather than the specific issue and assured the PRI Members of working together towards the development of the Diglipur Sub-Division with utmost efforts, the report further said.
