Port Blair, Apr 04: Once again the residents of Little Andaman are facing shortage of LPG cylinders since past few weeks as the LPG cylinders are not being supplied regularly, villagers alleged. Some villagers told Andaman Sheekha that if no LPG Cylinders reach Hutbay in the next two weeks there will be acute shortage of LPG Cylinders.
In the recent past Andaman Sheekha had carried detailed news regarding this issue and there was a protest also at the Hutbay Jetty in this regard. Finally the problem was resolved after the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka.
According to details available, the last stock of LPG cylinders was supplied to Little Andaman in the month of February 2022.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Abdul Siddique, the Secretary of CCS he said that due to unavailability of cargo ships, they are unable to send LPG Cylinders to Hutbay.
“Hopefully next week MV Shakti will sail for Hutbay with around 4000 LPG Cylinders. I have been informed that at present the ship MV Shakti is under survey, next week the survey will be completed. Once the survey is over, it will sail for Hutbay, Little Andaman,” he added.
