Port Blair, Mar 22: Mr. Rangalal Halder, President of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee wrote a letter to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands on 22nd March 2022 requesting to provide immediate financial assistance to farmers of A&N Islands who suffered from crop loss due to unseasonal rain that lashed our Islands.
In the letter, Mr. Halder stated that the ‘Cyclone Asani’ followed by intermittent rains and heavy winds have caused damage to the fields in many areas and have led to an adverse loss of income to farmers.
He requested the LG to look into the matter on a priority basis and ensure that the farmers of A&N Islands receive compensation at the earliest.
Consequently, he also requested the LG to order concerned authorities to visit all cyclone-hit areas and assess the damage caused to the fields as a result of this cyclonic storm.
