A lots of queries and applications for permission of flags and stickers to be mounted on vehicle has been received by the Office of the Director Panchayat and Municipal Election, Port Blair.
The issue has been examined and it was decided that each candidate shall inform to the concerned Returning Officer about the vehicle with registration details to be used by him/her for election purpose. A copy of such information shall necessarily be displayed in the windshield of the vehicle.
Each vehicle may have one flag of smaller size and stickers so placed that it shall not hamper the movement of the traffic in general and that vehicle in special.
All Returning Officers are hereby directed to follow the advisory and to disseminate the advisory among the candidates.
ADVISORY
Use of Vehicles
(i) Candidates are required to submit information before the RO regarding details of vehicles proposed to be used in writing.
(ii) External modification of vehicles including fitting of Loudspeaker thereon, would be subject to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act/Rules and any other Local Act/Rules. Vehicles with modifications and special campaign vehicles like Video Rat etc. can be used only after obtaining the requisite permission from the competent authorities under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Temporary office of candidates during electioneering
(a) No such office will be opened by way of any encroachment either of public or private property.
(b) No such offices will be opened in any religious places or campus of such religious places.
(c) No such offices will be opened contiguous to any educational institution/hospital.
(d) No such office will be opened within 100 metres of an existing polling station.
(e) Such offices can display only one party flag and banner with party symbols/photographs.
(f) The size of the banner used in such offices should not exceed ‘4 feet x 8 feet’
(g) Contesting candidates are requested to provide information regarding setting up of temporary office to his respective Returning Officer.
