Port Blair, Jan 25: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, BJP, former State President BJP-ANI and Home Ministry Advisory Committee, GoI wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, A & N Administration and raised the following burning issues in respect to Little Andaman after completing his two days tour to Little Andaman recently.
One of the major burning issues brought to my notice that scarcity in supply and distribution of domestic LPG cylinders in Little Andaman; as a result the consumers are facing a lot of inconvenience in their day to day life. It is also revealed that the LPG distributer is providing LPG supply to the residents once in a gap of 3-4 month (irregular) which is a very serious concern and needs to be streamlined.
Secondly, there are acute shortage in supply of POL (diesel and petrol) in Little Andaman which also causes huge set back to the people residing in Little Andaman as a result the business activities for transportation of men and materials and commercial activities is completely hampered and directly hit their income at this pandemic time.
Since the passenger cum cargo service to inter island sector is totally curtailed due to the surge of increase number of Covid cases in these sector. As a result the farmer of little Andaman couldn’t transport their agriculture produce which include vegetables, copra, arecanut etc. and the general cargo/essential items of private traders meant for Little Andaman from Port Blair to Hutbay couldn’t be transported timely causing great loss to the traders/farmers and simultaneously effecting to the residents for their day to day needs. Beside the above, HSD oil for the use of power house at Hutbay is not transported timely due to non availability of scheduled passenger cum cargo vessels.
Accordingly he requested the Chief Secretary to address the above mentioned issue by directing the concerned authority to take necessary steps on priority basis for the welfare of the people residing in Little Andaman.
