Port Blair, Jan 10: Yuva Bharat Samaj Seva Charitable Trust (YBSSCT) is involved in addressing the societal and sustainable Andaman Islands for the past 07 years to date. In place of objective YBSSCT organized cleanliness drives in collaboration with the Directorate of RD, PRIs, and ULBs on 09-01-2022 at different places in South Andaman.
A Team comprising of YBSSCT and collaborators (20 participants) by following COVID-19 protocol carried out the Cleanliness drive at Beodnabad Beach. During the drive, they encountered huge piles of mixed garbage like plastics numerous utilities (e.g. Juice bottles, Water bottles), followed by liquor bottles (different brands), beverage cans (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), food packing materials (Aluminum foil, paper plates, food packing plastic wrappers), footwear, etc. The litter was sorted and packed in 55 huge bags and handed over to Beodnabad Panchayat for further action, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, another Team of YBSSCT which included 19 participants at Hut Bay carried out the Cleanliness drive on the same day from Hut Bay Fishmarket to Tsunami Park. The litter was collected from the roadside and park premises in 12 huge bags and handed over to Gram Panchayat, Hut Bay for further action.
However, they were disappointed by those people who frequently visit beaches, Parks, Tourist places and litter their wastes around there. “It is important that we keep our recreational spots clean. We were sad to find so much garbage and we urge all civilians to act responsibly and make sure to keep our mother nature clean and safe for others”, said Mr. K. Lokandham, Secretary YBSSCT.
YBSSCT extends heartfelt gratitude towards the Directorate of RD, PRIs, and ULBs for providing vehicle facilities and manpower, for the removal and disposal of the collected garbage.
Cleanliness drive is a part of our Trust activities to do our bit for a cleaner country and sustainable environment. Through this initiative, they aimed to spread the message to work towards a plastic-free, litter-free, and pollution-free environment.
