Port Blair, Nov 15: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Memorial Youth Club celebrated the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, an eminent educationist and a great leader of India’s freedom struggle, on 11 th November as National Education Day with rest of Island. As a part of celebration MAKAMYC with the help of around 120 youths and villagers conducted “Shram Daan” cleaning drive and cleaned surrounding of village at 1000 am. At the culmination of programme Mr. P Azeez, Pradhan, Stewart gunj Gram Panchayat highlighted the importance of education and insisted Village Education Committee to keep an eye on the number of drop-outs with special reference to female students.
Mr. Zainul Secretary MAKAM Youth Club appreciated youth for their participation in the cleaning drive and promised to conduct more activities in the coming years.
