Dinghy Capsizes in Diglipur, eleven feared dead

Diglipur, May 29: In a tragic incident eight people died at Diglipur Island yesterday when a dinghy capsized near Khurmachad area of Kishori Nagar at nearly 11.00 am yesterday. According to reports three others still remain missing.

As per details available here nearly 15 people of Kishori Nagar were going for picnic in a remote beach, Khurmachad yesterday in a wooden dinghy when suddenly high waves turned their dinghy into the sea. The Dinghy capsized immediately. Four out of the 15 people however managed to reach to the shore. Among these four survivors, two were ladies while two were children of 15 and 8 years.

“The villagers around the area had recovered two bodies, when the information reached to us at around 7.00 pm. Chances of survival was very less. We tied up with Coast Guard and till 5.00 pm today we could recover six other bodies. Today eight bodies have been recovered till now and three are still missing,” Mr. S B S Tyagi, the Superintendent of Police of North and Middle Andaman (in/charge) Andaman told Andaman Sheekha today. Search for other three bodies are still on.
