Port Blair, July 25: A delegation of students from various colleges affiliated to Pondicherry University visited Gandhi Bhawan, Port Blair to clear their doubts with the Member of Parliament about the cancellation of first and second year UG examination.
As the M.P was not in the station, the grievances of students were heard by Mr. M.A Sajid, Ex-State President NSUI, Mr. Mohammed Zubair, President City Congress Committee, Mr. Saurav Nair, State General Secretary NSUI, Mr. Mukesh & Mr. Robin, Active members of NSUI.
The confusion among students were the result of two news which widely circulated in printed as well as social media. The first was the circular of Pondicherry University which stated that “there will be no semester exam for first and second year UG students” and the second was the press release done by college management of ANCOL & JNRM notifying students about the conduct of same examinations in offline mode from 26.07.2021. This created chaos among students. Moreover if examinations were cancelled, the students were still confused on how the colleges will allot their marks.
Acting upon it, Mr. M.A Sajid & Mr. Mohammed Zubair called upon the authorities of ANCOL & JNRM and cleared the doubts of students. The college authorities informed that the press releases were send to printed medias before the exam cancellation circular was released by Pondicherry University. But the printed media has published the press release in their esteemed newspapers after the exam was cancelled by Pondicherry University which led in creating confusions among the students.
Further, the college authorities have informed that “for first and second year students, assessment shall be done based on internal evaluation and previous semester marks as directed by UGC. They further requested all students to register for examination and other regulations like payment of exam fees should be followed as per schedule. The decision of Pondicherry University was hailed by the students. They expressed their sincere gratitude towards Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament who had made several efforts already and spoken with Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University for cancelling the exams.
