Port Blair, Mar 03: A fire was reported from a rented room of a RCC house, near Prem Nagar, Kali Temple area today at around 11.10 AM.
During the incident nobody was there in the house but when the house owner and nearby people saw thick smoke coming out from first floor they immediately rushed to the room and broke the main door and tried douse the flames using water.
On getting call, immediately two fire tenders and one water browser from Aberdeen Fire Station rushed to the spot. Later one fire tender from Chatham, another one from Marine reached the spot, to control the fire.
Because of thick smoke fire officials faced difficulties in dousing the fire but the firemen demonstrated excellent professionalism and brought the fire under total control. People of that area lauded the efforts of fire brigade team. As per a rough estimate property worth 3 to 4 lakhs were destroyed in the fire. appreciated the Fire Service personnel and police personnel for their
tremendous efforts.
