Port Blair, Mar 03: A fire was reported this morning at around 11.32 AM at PS Nancowry. According to reports the fire was seen in the jungle of Kakana village of Kamorta Island.
On information Fire Brigade team of Nancowry, Police team of PS Nancowry and forest department staffs rushed to the spot and controlled the fire by spraying water and beating the fire by 06:00 PM. The fire reportedly destroyed a large area of forest, mostly bushes. There is no report of any causality. For precautions Police and Forest Staffs have been deployed around the area, to keep and watch. Cause of fire is believed to be careless smoking.
