Port Blair, Dec 08: It seems that finally the long pending demands of the residents of Khadi Basthi, Baratang Island will be fulfilled very soon.
It is learnt that the work for construction of sea wall for protection of fisheries settlement area at Oralkatcha is commencing very soon.
Former Up-Adhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr. Alagerswamy has expressed his gratitude towards the Executive Engineer of APWD, Rangat for timely action of obtaining the required clearance for commencing the work and fulfilling the desires of people residing in Khadi Basthi area of Baratang.
There was constant fear among the fishermen of the region and residents of Khadi Basti about crocodile attack in the area, once the sea wall is constructed, there will be no threat of crocodile attack in the area. Moreover a sea wall will also prevent ingress of water during mega tides.
