Rangat, November 02: After several requests by the shopkeepers of Hawa Mahal to Rangat Bridge area of Rangat, that currently comes under the containment zone, the authorities have now finally permitted them to open the shops from morning 07 AM to 02 PM from today, but the decision of not allowing the customers inside the containment zone without a pass has left the shopkeepers deeply disappointed.
The Shopkeepers are now questioning the administration that why they have permitted them to open the shops, when costumers can’t come to their shops? Whom will they sell the goods and other commodities?
“I am unable to understand the methodology applied by the District Administration,” said a shopkeeper.
Meanwhile, the shops that sell essential commodities and were previously allowed to open till 07:00 PM, were also ordered to close their shops by 02:00 PM. This left many other shopkeepers fuming.
Several shopkeepers went and met the Assistant Commissioner and asked him to withdraw the decision and permit them to keep the shops open till 07:00 PM, which yielded no results.
Later the shopkeepers requested the AC Rangat to at least permit the public inside the area till 02:00 PM so that there will be some meaning in opening the shops, to which the AC reportedly replied that he is following the rules as per the guidelines, and he can’t do anything in this regard.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, she said that a bit of essential requirement of the public will be fulfilled by this, also to some extent, it will give relief to the shopkeepers.
“Maximum possible, which we could provide by maintaining safety parameters as of now, we have done that,” said Dr. Chauhan.
