Little Andaman, Nov 02: A peaceful protest was organized by large number of fuming youths of Little Andaman today in front of the Tehsil Office, demanding boat services to Port Blair and vice versa. Similar protest was also organized yesterday at the Jetty area after these youths were not given tickets for MV Coral Queen which sailed for Port Blair from Hut Bay with around 200 other passengers at around 10 AM yesterday.
As per reports, to attend the counseling for admission in colleges, these students wanted to avail the ship for Port Blair but they were denied tickets as per orders from Port Blair.
“Only if we are provided with the traveling facilities, we will be able to reach and verify our documents infront of counseling authorities for admissions in various local colleges,” said a student. Many political leaders also supported the students.
It is learned that later the senior officials of South Andaman District communicated to the political leaders of Little Andaman that on the 07th of November 2020, few staffs will be sent to the Little Andaman Island to verify the documents of the students following which the protest was later called off.
While people in various islands are demanding for more boats the District Administration is restricting the movement of people just to safeguard people from Corona Infection and also to save lives.
