Port Blair, August 04: Applying for seats in the Mainland Government Colleges has turned into a headache for the students of these Islands, who have passed their plus two this year as the Revenue Inspectors and Patwari’s have stopped disposing of the certificates.
After the Tehsildar, several Revenue Inspectors and Patwari’s of the South Andaman Tehsil Office were tested Corona positive or are in isolation, they have stopped disposing of certificates following which the e-corner has stopped its operations since the last 07-08 days and Common Service Centre are not able to cater to the needs, as a result of which the students who need certain certificates like origin, OBC, local, income etc to apply for seats are worried.
The problem does not exist for the students of South Andaman District itself, the tehsil offices in all the regions of North and Middle Andaman are also allegedly not allowing the public to enter inside the office, hence, public are suffering.
According to the parents of several wards, the last date to apply for seats in the Mainland Government Colleges is 17th of August 2020, and applying according to the schedule is not possible looking at the current situation.
“Either the administration must extend the late date to apply for the seats or they must ask the Revenue officials to dispose of the certificates as early as possible,” said a parent.
Meanwhile, some parents also said that the extension of time is of utmost necessity as due to the lockdown from tomorrow, all the internet cafes will remain closed, and applying for seats will then become another headache for their wards, even if they get the required certificates.
Hope, the request of the students will be taken into consideration by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration looking at the current situation.
