Port Blair, July 01: There was a huge disappointment among people of South Andaman area when they learnt that the new tariff plans proposed by BSNL for Andaman and Nicobar Islands were not implemented today.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Islands had promised to provide fresh rental plans from 01st July 2020 but sadly when many reached the BSNL offices today to change their broadband plans, they had to turn back with disappointment as the staffs said that the shifting of plan cannot be done from today.
The Chief General Manager, BSNL, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands till yesterday gave many contrasting statements to various media houses, for which people are hugely disappointed. A few are demanding resignation of Chief General Manger of BSNL A& N Circle for the disappointment, contrasting statements and also for unable to provide best service to people of these Islands.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the CGM, BSNL today for clarifications, he said that due to some procedural hitches and technical reasons the new tariff plans could not be activated today.
The CGM said that the rental for the Submarine Cable Infrastructure has not yet been amended which was expected to be done by yesterday and to the utter dismay of the islanders, the CGM now also added that it may take one more month to amend the rental for the submarine cable infrastructure.
Also, CGM told Andaman Sheekha that he has already extended the internet speed in advance, which also came as a big shock for islanders as many islanders told Andaman Sheekha that the speed on the internet is not as such which they were expecting.
When Andaman Sheekha also quizzed the CGM that why the rentals are so high with low GB in spite of shifting to the CANI project, he said that because the network maintenance is more expensive.
