Billyground, June 19: The residents of Basantipur Gram Panchayat have alleged that several encroachments have taken place near the water source at Pareshanagar- 1 as a result of which the residents of the area are facing huge water scarcity.
As per the villagers, from the water source at Pareshanagar- 1, the Andaman Public Works Department supplies water to the residents of Basantipur, Harinagar, and Swadeshnagar areas but huge encroachment in the area has put a very bad impact on the water source.
As per sources, the residents of the area have registered a complaint to Mr.Mohan Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (SDM), Head Quarter, Mayabunder and he has immediately directed the Patwari, Nimbudera to report the fact immediately in front of him without a delay. The AC has assured that strict action against the encroachers will be taken.
