Port Blair, June 19: The new practice of one side parking, in the highly congested region of Aberdeen Bazaar viz Ratnam Market to Ganesh Temple, has come as a great relief for many city dwellers.
The region now witnesses low traffic and people are also getting used to this new arrangement, introduced by the Traffic Police Unit. People, especially the pedestrians are highly impressed with this new arrangement of the Traffic Police Unit.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai said that the step of implementing one side parking from Ratnam Market to Ganesh Temple was necessary, looking at the flow of traffic in that particular region.
“We are now doing it on a trial basis, only two-wheelers are allowed to park on the left side from Ratnam Market to Ganesh Temple, if this arrangement brings good relief from congestion, we will continue doing it,” DySP Traffic said.
Andaman Sheekha has also learned that the DySP Traffic, Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai has recently visited the Auto Stand Mohanpura and after analyzing the problems, he has finally allotted an area for the Autorickshaws drivers to pick up and drop passengers.
“No Auto Rickshaw will now stop in and around Ratnam Market, Gandhi Market etc, one has to come to the particular pickup point and Auto Rickshaws will be in the queue to cater passengers from the allotted point,” said Mr. Rai.
The DySP Traffic Mr. Rai also said that from Ratnam market to Ganesh Temple and in the Mohanpura Auto Stand he has deputed staffs to monitor that no violations take place.
