Port Blair, June 14: South Andaman Police in its effort to curb down the illegal activities from the societies; the team from PS Aberdeen arrested Ten persons under A&N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1951 and for violation of social distancing norms on 13th June, 2020 with a recovery of Rs 1,14,891 /-(Rupees One Lakhs fourteen thousand eight hundred ninety one only) from Hotel Cozy Inn near Zilla Parishad Niwas.
On 13/06/2020, credible information regarding illegal gambling den at Hotel Cozy Inn, Near Zilla parishad Niwas was received. Immediately a raiding team was constituted under the supervision of Mr. Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO (S/A) comprising of Inspr. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen, SI M.A. Rasheed, PSI Saorabh Kumar Pandey, ASIs Surya Narayan & Sanjay Yadav and PCs M Santosh Kumar, Bipul Halder & Zulfikar Ali. During the course of Police raid, the Police team apprehended 10 persons namely 1.M Kumar S/o Late K Muthu (52) yrs, Pvt Contractor R/o Prothrapur 2. C.M Lathief S/o Late C.V Moideen (43) yrs Work Assistant (ALHW) R/o Bambooflat 3.Anand Kumar S/o Late K.R Maniickam (41)yrs, Senior Investigator Statistical Dept. R/o RGT Road 4. Dilip Sharma S/o Late Paramasukh Sharma (44)yr, Pharmacist GB Pant Hospital R/o Bathu Basthi 5. A Thiru Selvam S/o Late Haparaswamy (38)yrs, Driver STS Dept. R/o Bambooflat 6. A Japan S/o Mr. K Arumugam (24)yrs Seaman R/o Bambooflat 7. P AshuMurugan S/o Late Pokkar (39)yrs Seaman R/o Prothrapur 8. P Sakthi Murugan S/o Late Pokkar (36)yrs Pvt business R/o Katchal 9.Rakesh Kumar S/o Mr. P Kerketta (47)yrs owner of Cozy Inn R/o Shadipur 10. S Nitin Kumar S/o Late Kumarswamy (25) yrs Manager of Cozy Inn R/o Hotel Cozy Inn and recovered a total amount of Rs.1,14,891/- including personal search cash of Rs 40,491/-, board money Rs.74,400/- alongwith 52 Nos. Playing Cards from their possession. The above persons were found violating the advisories of GOI and A&N Administration of social distancing norms and A&N Gambling Regulation 1951. Thus, the cash of Rs. 1,14,891/-and 52 Playing cards were seized from the spot & arrested the accused persons after observing codal formalities. Further, a case has been registered at PS Aberdeen under relevant section of IPC, A&N Gambling Regulation 1951 & DM Act. 2005.
The entire operation took place under SDPO South Andaman, Mr. Narra Chaitanya, IPS and under the overall direction and supervision of Mr. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
