Port Blair, Feb 26: The Police Training School, Prothrapur, A&N Islands organized 05 (five) days training for Investigators on “Safety of Women” from 17.02.2020 to 21.02.2020, for in-service Police personnel of A&N Police from the rank of Head Constable to Inspector. The training programme was inaugurated by Mrs.. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Principal, PTS. The main objective of the course was to improve the investigation skills of the officers on Crime against Women & Safety of Women. During the training programme, resource person from various departments and A&N Police including Mr.. Michael Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal, PTS, Inspr. Jyothi Chatwal, Police Line, Dr. Ashwin Kumar, Tutor, Forensic Medicine, ANIIMS, Port Blair, Mr.. Quamaruddin, Ld. Sr. APP, Port Blair, SI Ashok Bhagel, I/C Cyber Cell, CID, Inspr. Girish Kumar PTS Prothrapur, Mr.. Yogesh Kumar, SSO, I/C, FSL Port Blair, Inspr. Hemawati, SHO PS AHT/CAW Cell, Mr.. Shivendra Pratap Singh, SSA, FSL, SI Sudeep Golder, I/C CCTNS, SI Mohd.Elias, PS CCS, Mrs.. Reeta Devi, Protection Officer, Director of Social Welfare Board, Port Blair, Mr.. M. K. Das, Ld. APP, Port Blair, Inspr. Sahil Samsudeen , CDI, PTS, Inspr.Mahesh Yadav, SHO CCS and Dr. Uday Shankar, Associate Professor, Forensic Medicine, ANIIMS delivered informative lectures on various topics like victim Counselling, Recording Statement of Victim, medical Examination of Victim, Ingredients & Drafting of FIR (Practical), Cyber Pornography, Paedophilia, Investigation of Cases of Acid Attack, Eve Teasing, Stalking and Outrage of Modesty and Sexual Assault, Human trafficking, Rape Case simulation Securing the scene of Crime and Evidence Collection using Scientific Aids and SAECK. Submission/Forwarding of Evidence to FSL, Investigation of Cyber Crime against women SOP for dealing with Missing Women and Children SC/NHRC/MHA Guidelines etc.
During course of training, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police and Mrs..Usha Rangnani, IPS, Principal, Police Training School interacted with the participants and highlighted the importance of empowering the Police personnel with the required professionalism, in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes, for dealing with the cases of crime against women and for ensuring adequate women safety. They also responded to the questions raised by the participants on various issues such as preservation of biological evidence, sensitivity towards complainant/victims of crime, effective and visible patrolling, examination of witnesses, Court procedures etc.
Altogether, 25 Police Personnel of various Police Stations/Units of A&N Police participated in the training programme, Mrs.. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Principal, Police Training School also presided over valedictory function of the training programme.
