Port Blair, Jan 05: The floating jetty at Corbyn’s Cove beach, Port Blair which was not in use since a long time due to the dilapidated condition, might come back in service once again.
Andaman Sheekha on dated 19th December, 2019 carried news with caption “Floating Jetty at Corbyn’s Cove in dilapidated condition remains unused for a long time” was taken into serious consideration by concerned departments following which the maintaining authority of the floating jetty ‘Andaman Lakshadweep Harbor Works’ swung into action and started the repair work for the floating jetty.
Mr Jyoti Rajan, the water sports controller of the Corbyn’s Cove beach expressed gratitude to the Director, Tourism Department for taking swift action in this regard and making the Jetty safe for visitors.
“The work of jetty is under process and it is expected that within a day or two the jetty will be assigned to us,” Mr Jyoti added.
The immediate step in this regard has also been appreciated by the Tour Operators of the Islands. “Now the visitors will not have to go into the water to board a boat,” said Mr VC Rao, a tour operator. Mr Jyoti Rajan as well as the tour operators has also appreciated Andaman Sheekha for highlighting the matter of the floating Jetty.
