Port Blair, Dec 09: With the thesis to curtail down the threat of drugs from these Islands, the Special NDPS team of South Andaman Police has once again proved their efficiency and booked one accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with a recovery of 3.050 Kgs of Ganja.
On 07.12.2019, a credible information was received regarding possession of huge quantity of ganja with a flight passenger, upon this a raiding team led by Insp. A.K. Singh, SHO PS Aberdeen comprising SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, ASI Sanjay Yadav, PCs Ashish Mallick, S. Nanak Singh, M. Raja Rao and PC(D)/ Sanchit Lall was constituted. During continuous checking of passengers at the arrival gate of VSI Airport, one suspicious person namely Milan Dey S/o Late Adhar Dey, 51 yrs R/o Subhash Gram, Diglipur, North & Middle Andaman, the permanent resident of Bathpul (vill.), Maslandapur (PO), Habra (PS), North 24 Paragana (Dist.), West Bengal was framed & thorough checking was carried out and recovered a total of 3.050 Kgs of Ganja from his possession.
The entire operation took place under Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, SDPO South Andaman under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
