Port Blair, Dec 04: The Revenue Department’s move of opening the Quarry operations in all the regions of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by inviting online open bid is seems to have some flaws, Mr MT Mustafa, President, Island Protection Forum, claims.
According to Mr Mutafa, the online open bid for quarry allotment in South Andaman and North and Middle Andaman is supposed to take place on 05th December, 2019 but till now the Revenue Department has not fixed the rates of chips, metal, dust that will be supplied to the general public.
“After the quarry license is issued the administration will have no control to fix the price of quarry products for supply to the general public. How come the Revenue Department let the Quarry Operators decide the rates?” Mr Mustafa questioned.
As the flaws of Revenue Department may result in people getting exploited by the quarry operators, Mr Mustafa has recently written a letter to the Lt Governor on this lapse of Revenue Department and has urged him to order the concerned department to revisit the process again.
