Campbell Bay, Nov 25: The Up-Adhyaksh, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr Gagandeep Singh Grewal has urged the Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Islands to upgrade all 2G towers to 3G towers in the Great Nicobar Islands so that the internet speed in the Great Nicobar Islands improves and it helps the youths to download study materials and fill online forms of SSC, UPSC and other government departments, without any problem.
In a letter addressed to the CGM, BSNL, Mr Gagandeep Singh Grewal stated that the world is currently moving to 5G but here in the Great Nicobar Islands the people are still forced to use the 2G services, which is bigotry.
He further stated that recently, the BSNL provided 3G facilities in the Kamorta Island and the people there are enjoying the services to their best. “Being the Southern Group of Islands when BSNL can upgrade the services at Kamorta then why not the Great Nicobar Islands?” Mr Gagandeep questioned.
Hence, he requested the CGM, BSNL to take necessary action and fulfill the needs of the people in the Great Nicobar Islands at the earliest.
