Port Blair, Nov 24: As per the direction of the Government of India wherein every Member of Parliament have to adopt a village for its all round development, Mr.i Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament adopted Mithakhari Gram Panchayat under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana(SAGY) and has organized a skill development program on Tailoring and Fashion Designing course for the development of the rural women of the area and making them self sufficient at Mithakhari Gram Panchayat hall on 23rd November, 2019 where total fifty numbers of rural women have registered themselves for getting the training. The training course will be for six months duration.
In his inaugural address, the MP said, a village can be well developed if the women of the area are made to come out of their houses and become self dependent. When the group of women we are talking about, hails from economically lower or from rural backgrounds, the problems become endless. For these women, manual labour is still the most easily available work but for such work they don’t get proper value of their labour, they lack hygienic and cleanliness environment. And to get rid of this situation there is a great need to properly skill this significantly large workforce so that they can become a major part of the economy through desk-oriented jobs. So to prepare the womenfolk of the area self dependent, this tailoring and fashion designing programme has been started where these women will learn the skill from trained expertise teachers and after being trained they may start their own business by obtaining loan from Banks and thus support themselves and also their family members. Such financially sound independent women may be able to think of gender equality, give education to their daughters also at par with their sons, think of hygiene, cleanliness, and healthy food to their family members and inspire other women also to change their life style by getting trained in such skills and also think of getting bigger skills as their future programme. MP has also assured of more such trainings and other training on shell craft, bamboo craft, Beautician course, Bakery items making, pickle making, candle making and jute items making courses etc which will be imparted for the betterment of the women of the area very shortly.
Other dignitaries have also spoken on the occasion and praised the initiative of MP for uplifting the rural women folk.
At the outset Mr..Mohammed Safiq, Pradhan, Mithkhari Gram Panchayat welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Anant Rao.
