Port Blair, Nov 15: In 1985, by an Act of Parliament, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established as a Central University, with national and international jurisdiction. Started with few thousand students in its initial period, now meets the educational needs of millions of people; thus emerged as ‘People’s University’. Being one of the mega universities in the world, now the impact of IGNOU is felt at every corner of our Country.
The success of IGNOU in reaching the ‘unreached’ sections of India is a great achievement in higher education of our Country. Having completed a decade, the Regional Centre of IGNOU at Port Blair, is celebrating the Foundation Day of the University at its premises on 19th November, 2019 at 3pm. The IGNOU students, ‘IGNOU- Ambassadors’ from seven Schools of Port Blair, The Head of the Institutions and general public will be attending the celebration.
During the function, the Assistant Regional Director Dr.T.R.Satyakeerthy will present the Power Point Presentation for the successful 2- years completion of Saturday Video Classes at Regional Centre, Port Blair and Mrs. Jolly Sarkar, Head of the Programme, Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair will deliver special talk on Learning from Audio-Video Media. The Regional Director Dr.S.Ganesan of IGNOU will highlight the Achievements of IGNOU in A & N Islands and future plans.
