Port Blair, Oct 13: The first ever ‘Andaman Tourism Award-2019’ was conferred to as many as 130 awardees, including individual, Departments, news papers, Electronic Media Units, tour operators, hotels and restaurants at a function held in the DBRAIT auditorium here yesterday.
The chairperson, PBMC, Mr. N K Udhaya Kumar was the chief guest while the Tamil Film Actor, Mr. R Sarath Kumar was the special invitee and Mr. Kalaimamani V K T Balan, President, Tamil Nadu Tour & Travel Association was the guest of honour. The programme was organized by the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), Port Blair.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the initiatives of AATO in promoting tourism in the islands. This award has been instituted with the objective to encourage tourism stakeholders to do their best in promoting tourism, he said and congratulated the organizers of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sarath Kumar appealed to one and all join together, breaking all barriers and develop these islands into the best tourist destination. He also expressed his desire to collaborate in promoting tourism in these beautiful islands.
In his presidential address, Mr. M Vinod, President, AATO and Organizing Chairman, Andaman Tourism Award-2019 informed that the award aims to felicitate tour operators, who have worked relentlessly in promoting tourism. He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported AATO in organizing the programme.
The award distribution ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Mr. Tanveer Singh, President, Youth Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
