Port Blair, Sept 25: The fishing Trawler owners have cried foul over the recent directions, they have received, from the Fisheries Department to seize operation in Andaman Waters.
According the fishing Trawler owners, the fishing industry in Andaman is still in infancy and very less people operate fishing Trawlers in Andaman Sea and hence there is no chance of major environmental damage because of Fishing Trawlers.
However according to them if this decision is implemented there will be severe shortage of fish in Andaman Market and the fish prices will soar sky high.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Vice President of Boat Association in Andaman, Mr. Dhana Shekharan said that already the supply of fish in Andaman Market is less than the demand and if these trawlers seize operation then even fish has to be imported from Mainland India, which will be another additional burden on common man.
