Port Blair, Sept.24: The Zilla Parishad Community Hall at Tsunami Shelter, Mithakhari was inaugurated today by the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, presided over by Adhayakh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Sanjib Kumar Mandal , in presence of Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman/Secretary(OL/Archives), Mr. Krishan Kumar, IAS, Smti. Ratna Kannan, Ex- Chairperson Social Welfare Board, Mr. Mohd. Safiq, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Mithakari, Executive Engineer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Pradeep Prasad and all PRI Members.Speaking on the occasion, the Member of Parliament lays stress on the public oriented efforts and development, while congratulate the residents of Tsunami shelter, he praised the efforts of Mithakhari Panchayat for its all round approach in improving the public facilities, however he has shown his concern over the potable drinking water crisis, looming large on the Island accordingly he suggest to adopt the rain water harvesting measures by the citizens and Panchayat at the earliest, on the occasion, he further declare to adopt the Panchayat Mithakhari as “Sansad Adarsh Gram” and to take up the development work to the extent that the Panchayat to become number one in the country the Member of Parliament also share his hope, to have the connecting bridge from ‘Mithakhar Jetty to Mini bay, which will benefit 28 revenue village and shorten the distance by 25 KM and savings crores of rupees on fuel every year and also create opportuniti9es for Development for these villagers .He has also points that the “Ograbraj” school be facilitated with all Modern equipments and ICT Tools. For the Community Hall, he has proposed to use its as Training cum facilitation center for the youths and to extend his all support for the cause.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjib Mandal, spoken to length about the progress of Community Hall, which created for Rs. 60 lakh and has enough facility for the villagers.He further elaborated the role of Zilla Parishad in Development activities. While the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Krishan Kumar congratulated the villages of Mithakari Gram Panchayat . He stressed that residents of Tsunami Shelter has to maintain the Community Hall to be used for various programmes like education and community purpose.While proposing the vote of thanks by the Pradhan, Mithakhari he acknowledges the roll of PRI, Zilla Parishad in the development and also thanked the UT Administration for sanctioning the Water Treatment Plant at Mithakhari, he has also appreciated the efforts of Rural Development Department for preparing a comprehensive GPDP with the active involvement of Gram Panchayat .
