Port Blair, Sept 25: A semi permanent ‘Grameen Haat’ at organic Horticulture Farm, Sippighat, near pump house (opposite to Labour Barrack) established by the Department of Agriculture was inaugurated by Pradhan, Sippighat Gram Panchayat, Shri Vincent Walter recently, in the presence of Ex-Pradhan Chouldari and officials of Agriculture Department.The Haat is established in close proximity from the farm gate to encourage direct marketing, where the farmers can come and sell their farm produces daily on first come first serve basis. The Haat, on the National Highway is easily accessible by farmers of nearby villages, such as Guptapara, Manglutan, Wandoor, Bimblitan etc. and is convenient for the consumers of Sippighat, Dhanikhari, Chouldari and nearby adjoining areas. Eight farmers from Chouldari and Bimblitan Village displayed and sold their farm produce.
