Port Blair, Aug 07: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands protest the blatant application of FR 56 (j) by the Govt. of India to compulsorily retire Govt. Employees who have completed 55 years or 30 years of service. In the name of strengthening of administration, the Govt. has ordered periodical review of staff for pre-mature retirement resulting creation of fear among employees.
A joint meeting of the Central Executive Members and Office Bearers of Braches and Sub-Committees of the Association held on 3rd August, 2019 at Crusade House, Port Blair demanded withdrawal of draconian rule FR 56 (j).
The meeting also expressed serious concern over ‘back door’ privatisation of harbour ferry service between Chatham and Bambooflat. The attempt to privatise the ferry services should be opposed as it will burden the general public and Govt. Employees. Further, the move to hand-over harbour ferry services to some agencies risking safety of passengers is to satisfy certain vested interests, whereas the Directorate of Shipping Services failed in timely maintenance of a large number of ferry boats, and most of these boats are lying idle for want of repair works.
The Association also decided to organise a seminar on 10th August, 2019 on the draft of National Education Policy-2019. Smti.Sudha Sundararaman, National Vice President, All India Democratic Women’s Association shall give the keynote address in the seminar. The meeting was addressed by Shri.P.Sathyapal, President, Shri.T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary and Shri.S.N.Mishra, Vice President of the Association.
