Port Blair, August 7: The Fisheries Department, A&N Administration is organizing a two day Conference on ‘Seaweed Farming and Open Sea Cage Culture – A way forward for Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ at Port Blair in the conference hall of Megapode Resort on Aug 8 & 9, 2019. The inaugural session will be held at 10 am in the conference hall of Megapode Resort on Aug8, 20199. The conference is likely to be participated by Scientists/Experts from various Fisheries institutes besides progressive farmers from Mandapam engaged in commercial Seaweed Cultivation. During the conference, issues prevailing in the commercialization of cage culture and seaweed cultivation in the islands will be discussed apart from panel discussions by experts and interactions with fishers engaged in seaweed cultivation in Tamil Nadu. The conference aims at drawing all possible solutions with a road map for the future development of Mariculture activities in the islands.
