Port Blair, June 27: While observing the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, on 27/06/19, the team of PS Bambooflat organized an awareness program in the Community Hall, Shore Point along with various agencies, NGOs, teachers, students and persons from various sections of the society.
The welcome address was given by SHO PS Bambooflat who gave the historical perspective behind the observance of this day. The Chief Guest, Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, in his speech informed the people about the efforts being taken by A&N Police to curb the menace of drugs abuse. He informed the people about the newly launched helpline, (03192)234216, for reporting of matters related to drugs abuse and peddling without revealing the identity. He also highlighted the ill effects of drug abuse on health, family and society and appealed to the people to put up a collective fight against drugs abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs.
Similar programs were also held in various Police Station areas of Ograbraj, Humfrygunj, Hutbay, Swaraj Dweep and Chatham chaired by Shri. S. K. Meena, ASP, Fire Service, Shri. M. K. Shukla, DySP (PMF) & Shri. Prashant Choudhary, SDPO Swaraj Dweep, Insp. Rahul, SHO Swaraj Dweep and Sh. Nishant Gupta, SDPO/SA respectively.
