Port Blair, June 25: Pothole-laden roads in are causing untold hardships to road users. The road stretches pockmarked with numerous craters have become a source of torment for motorists and pedestrians, auto rikshaw drivers as many of them suffered fatal falls in the recent past.
Despite local residents raising the issue with the concerned agencies hardly anything has been done to repair the road stretches.
Ex-Pradhan, Rasheeda Bibi, Congress worker, Mr. B.Lakshmi Narayan Block President Congress with many other grassroot leaders and auto drivers of the area today met SI K. Illangovan, SHO PS Bomboflat to intimate him about a proposed strike by the villagers of the area against bad roads.
The delegation said that this area has five pachayats and roads are bad in almost every panchayat.
The grassroot leaders told SHO Bambooflat that they have approached concerned departments already for repair works but no action has been taken yet and hence the villagers are now planning to organize a massive protest soon.
The delegation of fuming grassroot leaders expressed concern over the fact that from July 1st all schools will reopen and bad roads will bring numerous problems for the children.
