Rangat, Jun 21: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra organised a programme for the “Paddy seed distribution” at Panchayat Hall, Harinagar. The programme was organised in the presence of GM, NABARD, Port Blair; Pradhan, Harinagar; PRI-members; Dr. B. L. Kasianth and other KVK staff. In the inaugural session, GM, NABARD advised the farmers to diversify the crop and asked the farmers to take the help of KVK and other line departments for technical support. He informed that KVK is implementing about five projects with the financial support of NABARD for the benefit of farmers. On the occasion, Pradhan, Harinagar thanked the GM, NABARD for his maiden visit and requested him to take steps to improve livelihood of islanders. Speaking on the occasion, DR. B. L. Kasinath highlighted the importance of quality seeds for better productivity. During this programme 25 no. of farmers received quality rice seeds like CARI-6, CARI-7, CSR-36, and Gayatri for cultivation in kharif season. This programme was supported financially by NABARD, Port Blair. The programme was performed under the guidance of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
