Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 08: As per the direction of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC), the Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) had organised a mass Black Day Protest against the assault on Hon’ble Leader of Opposition Mr. Rahul Gandhi.
Mr. Rangalal Halder, President ANTCC had entrusted the responsibility of organizing the protest to Mr. TSG Bhasker Chairman Campaign Committee-ANTCC who led the protest with hundreds of Congress leaders, office-bearers and workers.
The protest rally commenced from the Congress Office and proceeded towards the Clock Tower, passing through the Gandhi Statue. Near Gandhi Statue, the police had placed barricades to stop the protesters, resulting in a confrontation between the protesters.
During the protest, Mr. TSG Bhasker highlighted the issue of FIR filed in connection with alleged fake Form-7 submissions by the BJP workers in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and raised concerns over inaction by the police authorities in the matter. He demanded that appropriate action be taken in accordance with law.
The protest witnessed the participation of Mr. John Robert, District President; Mr. Mohd. Zubair, City Congress President; Mrs. Zubaida Begum, State President, Mahila Congress; Ms. Diksha Dular, State President, Youth Congress; Mr. M.A. Sajid, State President, NSUI; Mr. Saji Varghese, Chairman, Minority Department; Mr. O. Bashir, Chairman, RGPRS; Mr. R.K. Raj, Chairman, OBC Department; Mr. Laxmi Narayan, Chairman, Fishermen Congress, along with several AICC members, TCC members, Block Presidents, Mandal Presidents, Councillors, PRI members and a large number of Congress workers.
