Port Blair, Jun 21: The 05th International Day of Yoga-2019 was celebrated on 21st June, 2019 with greater enthusiasm and active participation by the general public particularly the youth, PRIs, officials/staff from various Government departments, NGOs, and students from various schools. The day was celebrated at 15 identified venues under the North and Middle Andaman District.
At district level, a mass yoga day celebrated at Zilla Parishad Hall, Mayabunder. Mr. Vichitraveer, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&MA Chief Guest of the occasion lit the traditional lamp and inaugurated the function in the presence of Mr. M.K.Gupta, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), N&MA, Mr. Mohan Kumar, DANICS, OSD, N&MA and Mr. M.K. Mahto, Medical Superintendent, Dr. R.P. Hospital Mayabunder. The Chief Guest welcomed all the participants of the occasion and briefed about the importance of International Day of Yoga and practice of yoga in daily life.
Mass rally and drawing competition were organized throughout the week preceding Yoga Day in the respective tehsils of N&MA District.
The programmes were organized by District Administration, N&M Andaman, District Health Society, North & Middle Andaman with the active support of Health and Ayush Department, a release from District Health Society, North & Middle Andaman said.
