Campbell Bay, Jun 17: Anganwadi workers of Nicobar District today organised a protest at Campbell Bay. From last few months Anganwadi workers of Campbell bay are facing major issues such as not getting honorarium from for last 4 months, which has became a regular practice as SDO don’t have DDO power.
According to the Anganwadi workers, they have to work for more than 4 hours as other departments are giving them more work in the name of social work and child development. Department like Medical, MGNREGA, Panchayat are also giving survey duty and other works to Anganwadi Workers.
They said that they are not getting the benefits of Flexi fund from past 15 years due to which they buy necessary items for the official purposes froom their honorarium. According to them, Anganwadi workers don’t get any medical leave if they take leave their honorarium gets deducted. In Great Nicobar no one is responding to grievances faced by Anganwadi workers, they alleged.
