Baratang, May 27: In a tragic incident one youth of Baratang Island, Mr. Tata Rao, died after being hit by lightning, while cleaning a fiber boat. Another youth, Mr. Habil Barla who was also working with the victim, reportedly suffered serious injuries, but he survived miraculously.
According to reports, 20 year old Mr. Tata Rao and 26 year old Mr. Habil Barla, were cleaning a fiber boat, secured at floating jetty of Nilambur.
Sources said that after being hit by lightning Mr. Habil Barla collapsed inside the boat while Mr. Tata Rao fell into creek water. When Mr. Barla gained conscious he anyhow reached to other people for help, who took him to PHC Baratang.
By the time Mr. Barla told others about Mr. Tata Rao, it was too late. Mr. Tata Rao’s body was later recovered from the creek.
Meanwhile, Mr. Habil Barla, has been referred to G B Pant as his condition was not stable, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, Mr. Biju Gurudasan, the Pradhan of Sundergarh, today contacted the AC, Rangat and requested him to release compensation for the family member of Mr. Tata Rao.
Mr. Alagar Swami, the Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang told Andaman Sheekha that he has taken up this matter with Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, who won MP 2019 MP election and requested him to take up the matter in highest level so that the family members of both the victims get suitable compensation.
