Port Blair, May 27: A municipal drain at Bargat Line area, situated along main road has been a shining example of PBMC’s failure in Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
Residents allege that during every Diwali unidentified people, posing as sanitary worker of PBMC, come to collect money from every house hold. In this case since a few house owners refused to pay money to unidentified person, the drain along main road was not cleaned. The drain is now full of earth and garbage, in picture one can see a thick layer of grass inside the drain, enough to prove that since last many months, the drain has not been cleared.
“We don’t know whom to complain, the sanitary worker in our area do not wear uniform. Even after request the sanitary worker refuses to clean the drain. We have complained about this to sanitary inspector but nothing happened,” complained a resident of the area.
As monsoon has arrived, such chocked drain will bring all rain waters on main road, causing road damage and accidents. Hope the Secretary PBMC will look into this matter and take appropriate action.
