Campbell Bay, Feb 28: General public of Great Nicobar Island are facing huge difficulties due alleged irresponsible behaviour of the branch manager at CCS Campbell Bay, who allegedly violated norms and allowed some random inexperienced person to distribute LPG cylinders in the Island, who are not even authorized to issue the cylinders.
Not only this, the un authorized distributors are selling cylinders to public by taking extra charges as Rs. 730 instead of Rs. 728.5. Public allege that the unauthorized persons are showing their attitude to the poor public of Campbell bay and implementing their self made rules.
As per the self made rule, if a consumer have booked a cylinders in the month of January at any date he/she is not eligible to claim his booking in the month of February, which is also informed to the public when the trucks of LPG cylinders reach to their village.
Most of the population of Great Nicobar Islands live in rural part of the island which is 4 km to 35 km away from the headquarter, how it is possible for a person to travel such a long distance and get a fresh immediate booking for the month.
When some of the families residing in Satellite Colony went to the Zilla Parishad member of Great Nicobar Mr. Gagandeep Singh Garewal to highlight this sudden rule imposed by CCS Campbell Bay manager, the Zilla Parishad member called CCS manager three times but he did not pick his call and also he didn’t call back.
Later the Campbell Bay Correspondent of Andaman Sheekha met the manager of CCS Campbell Bay and questioned whether the persons distributing the LPG cylinders are entitled or authorized to distribute or sell cylinders in the island, the manager CCS Campbell Bay accepted that the person distributing cylinders are not authorized.
After all this Mr. Gaganep Singh Garewal Zilla Parishad Member of Campbell Bay told to Andaman Sheekha that such act of manager CCS Campbell Bay is creating a lot of troubles to general public and this may lead to some crisis again and it is very essential that the top officials should take necessary and immediate actions in this issue.
