Port Blair, Feb 28: For 85 year old Mr. K C Paul presently, the footpaths and shop corridors are bed. Although corridors of some shops provide sufficient space for sleeping at night but it has other dangers too. Mr. K C Paul was bitten by a centipede on Tuesday night when he was sleeping on the corridors of Bangali Club Shopping Complex. In addition to the pain he suffered at this age, his forehead and eyes are so much swollen that he finds it difficult even to speak.
When a group of shop owners noticed this old man sleeping in Bangali Club Shopping Complex area they approached him in presence of Andaman Sheekha Correspondent.
According to Mr. K C Paul he was working as Security Gaurd at BSNL and after his retirement he gave all his properties to his two sons and a daughter, who later drove him out of his house.
As there was no one to take care of him, he thought to come to Port Blair to find some work. Presently he is getting some meager amount as pension but that is not enough to buy another house or rent a room.
“I request if anyone can assist me to get a place in the old age home or any ashram, where I can to stay. I shall remain ever grateful,” Mr. Paul told Andaman Sheekha.
Administration is presently running an old age home at Ferrargunj but the procedure to admit someone to old age home is too lengthy, it is learnt. Hopefully the Administration and Social Welfare Department will take initiative, find him and shift him to the old age home, so that he can live with self respect in a safe environment.
Shame to his Sons and Daughter. They are a black spot for our Society.
