Port Blair, Feb 28: On the morning of 12th February 2019 a surprise inspection was conducted in Port Blair Tehsil by the P.S Aberdeen following a complaint by the Deputy Director Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
According to the information received from the sources a surprise inspection was conducted in multiple hotels and tea stalls. 15 owners were found using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose in their trading premises. They violated the Essential Commodities Act 1955 under which clause 4(e)of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of supply and Distribution) Order, 2000 restricts the use of domestic cylinders for commercial purpose.
A total number of 31 domestic cylinders were seized from the hotels and tea stalls and were given to authorized LPG distributor of the islands CCS Ltd. for custody. The Deputy Director Civil supplies and consumer affairs demanded to take necessary action against the offenders and also investigate the source of supply of domestic LPG cylinders to the offenders, he also asked the police department to share the information to the civil supplies and consumer affairs department to initiate further course of action.
Upon this a FIR has been registered at P.S Aberdeen and the investigation has been taken up by Inspector Sanjay Kumar SHO, P.S Aberdeen.
