Diglipur, Dec 7: In view of the Turtle season the N & M Andaman Administration, issued a advisory to the general public to not to venture for fishing in the areas of Ross Island (WL)Sanctuary, Kalipur Beach, Lamia Bay Beach, Ramnagar Beach, Elizebeth Bay and Nargul Dunga at Diglipur.
In these areas every year four species of Turtles visits N &M Andaman beaches during the nesting season from November to Match. As a part of seasonal phenomenon a large number of turtles are expected to visit beaches for nesting during this season. The Sea grass beds adjacent to nesting sites are used by the sea turtles for nesting and breeding and thus fishing in the areas of these sites may cause disturbance and thus fishing in the nearby areas of these nesting sites may cause disturbance to the turtles.
In order to prevent damages to the turtle habitats all fishermen and general public are directed to not to venture for fishing in these areas from Nov to March.
