Katchal, Oct 23: During ongoing massive anti-poaching operation, the Andaman Nicobar Police was today successful in apprehending seven more poachers from West Bay area of Katchal. Earlier Andaman and Nicobar Police had apprehended one poacher from Katchal and it was suspected that nine more poachers are still hiding inside the Jungle of West Bay Katchal. Following this a massive combing operation was launched by A & N police and IRBn Jawans.
With arrest of seven more poachers today, total eight poachers have already be apprehended while two others are still hiding in the forest.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that one poacher out of these seven suffered a bullet injury because of deflection of bullet, which was fired on the air. However it is learnt that the bullet injury is minor and the injured poacher will probably be air-lifted to Port Blair for treatment. The efforts of A & N police and IRBn Jawans must be lauded in this mission because they have being conducting this combing operation under extremely hostile condition and constant threat of being attacked by the poachers.
