Port Blair, Oct 23: Areas under PS Humpherygunj are witnessing day light burglaries, leaving people of the area deeply scared.
In first case, a day light burglary was reported on 19th October afternoon from a house situated at Sippighat. As per reports, the house owner, Mr. C Minj, an employee of Education Department, posted at Campbell Bay, had came to Port Blair on leave, leaving his wife at Campbell Bay.
On 19 October he went out to Bazaar for some works but when he returned his house at Sippighat, he found that the back door of his house is broken and some golden ornaments worth nearly 4 Lakh and cash of Rs. 5000 are missing.
The matter was immediately informed to the Humpherygunj Police Station following which a team of Humpherygunj PS immediately reached the spot and started the investigation.
In second case, a lady of Naya Shahar Ms. Sumitra Agarwal when entered her house at around 11.50 AM, she found everything inside her house are scattered all around. Later when she reported this matter to police, it was revealed that someone entered the house from the window of Kitchen and decamped with Rs. 30,000 cash, one golden earring and a golden chain.
Police has registered a case in this regard. Such Burglaries have now triggered panic in Sippighat and Nayashahar areas residents and people in these areas are now demanding investigation by a dedicated Burglary squad of A & N Police. Further details are awaited.
