Port Blair, July 23: The State President of Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr. R. Mohan highlighted the problems faced by teachers and students of remote islands. In a letter addressed to Lt. Governor, Mr. R Mohan has said that Students of Ganesh Nagar and Shanti Nagar school of Diglipur depend on tide to receive education from their teachers and stated that the teachers posted there are able to teach the students only during high tide as they have to leave the school before the tide gets low.
Mohan added that the due to lack of accommodation for the teachers and proper berthing facilities in these areas the teachers are facing acute difficulty. After getting off the dinghy, they have to walk for half an hour in the mangrove swamp to reach to their schools.
Hence R Mohan, the State President has requested the Lt Governor to order the Education department for construction of accommodation for the teachers and proper berthing facility for dinghy at the stated areas.
Later in his letter Mr. Mohan has also requested the Lt. Governor to order the Director of Education to go for a visit to all schools of remote Islands to see the ground realities himself.
