Port Blair, Mar 12: The Stray dog Population is once again on the rise in city despite several claims by the PBMC of making Port Blair a world class and smart city.
Inside Port Blair Municipal region packs of stray dogs lurking in the street corners, public parks and markets has become a common sight.
On a walk down the city roads one can spot hundreds of stray dogs roaming freely, feasting on garbage and chasing residents, sometimes even tourists who come out for a stroll at night.
“Dogs chase us even during the day. At least 20 to 25 dogs can be spotted in our area all the time. The Corbyn’s Cove junction is a hub for dozens of Stray dogs, who chase every two wheeler in a dangerous manner,” said a resident of Brookshabad.
Situation is no different in other corners of Port Blair city and it is clear now that the Port Blair Municipal Council has failed miserably in keeping the population of stray dogs under control.
While, the Secretary of PBMC is busy in issuing different press releases everyday on the ground public are facing difficulty even in walking on the road and two wheeler riders are facing difficulty in driving at night.
The Secretary of PBMC must come out of his chamber and take a stroll at night with all the officials of PBMC and concerned section of PBMC, responsible to keep a check on stray dog population to see how bad is the situation in Port Blair city.
