Sri Vijaya Puram, October 25: Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee–ANTCC, has urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to introduce a golf cart or battery-operated vehicle service between the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) Jetty and the main road to ease the difficulties faced by elderly persons, patients and persons with disabilities.
In a letter to the Secretary (Shipping) and the Director of Shipping Services, Mr. Bhasker highlighted the inconvenience caused to passengers who are required to cover a distance of approximately 500 metres between the jetty and the main road. The stretch becomes particularly challenging for senior citizens, patients and persons with limited mobility, especially when they have to carry heavy luggage.
Emphasising the need for a passenger-friendly transportation arrangement, Mr. Bhasker stated that introducing a golf cart or battery-operated vehicle would provide much-needed relief to passengers and make access to the jetty more convenient and accessible.
He appealed to the Shipping Department to consider the genuine difficulties faced by passengers and take necessary action at the earliest in the larger public interest.
